Jesus explained that His followers were but one fold of the many folds of sheep, and that eventually He would gather together all of the folds. "So there shall be one flock, one shepherd." (John 10:16)
The return of Christ is not an event exclusive to Christians. People of all religions await the return of a Promised One. In the similarities of their basic moral and spiritual tenets, and in their common anticipation of One who would return at the "close of the age" it can be seen that these religions are the "other folds" of which Jesus spoke. In recognizing this, we acknowledge that when the Promised One comes, He will fulfill more than the prophecies of Jesus and the Bible. He will also fulfill the prophecies of the other major religions. Thus, the Promised One might appear in any part of the world, not only in a Christian land. Indeed, a closer look at Biblical references suggests that He is to come from the East: "For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man." (Matthew 24:27) Or again, from Ezekiel's vision of the future, where he looked "And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the east."
